Privacy Policy

Cotémon is built to respect your privacy: no account, no ads, no cross-app tracking. Card recognition runs on your device by default, and your collection is stored locally.

Data we process

• Camera images — card text is recognised on your device via Google ML Kit. Photos are not stored, and never leave your device unless AI card reading is on (see below).
• AI card reading — when your device cannot read a card confidently, the photo is cropped to the card itself and that crop is sent to our server (Cloudflare) and on to Anthropic to be read. We do not store it, and it is never used to train AI models. Anthropic may retain it briefly (up to 30 days) for abuse monitoring before deleting it. Nothing identifying you is sent with it. A random install identifier is sent alongside it purely to limit usage — it is not linked to you and it disappears when you uninstall. You can switch this off under Settings → AI card reading, which keeps every scan on your device.
• Your collection — stored locally on your device and not transmitted.
• Card lookups — identifiers sent to TCGdex to fetch card details, images and prices.
• Purchases and subscriptions — handled by Apple and RevenueCat.
• Usage analytics — PostHog collects anonymous first-party usage events.

What we do not do

• No collection of your name or email
• No ads or cross-app tracking
• No sale or rental of data
• No account system, and no photos or collection data kept on our server
• No use of your photos to train AI models

Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, TCGdex, Google ML Kit, and — for AI card reading only — Cloudflare and Anthropic.

Retention and control

Local data is kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.

Legal basis and rights (GDPR)

Processing is based on performance of the contract and legitimate interest. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure and objection.

International transfers

Third-party services may process data outside the EEA with appropriate safeguards. Cloudflare and Anthropic, used only for AI card reading, are US-based.

Children

Cotémon is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

This policy may be updated from time to time.

Cotémon is independent and not affiliated with Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, Game Freak, Cardmarket or TCGplayer.
